Ana Fernandes is a food chemistry researcher and entrepreneur, with a passion in food sustainability. Through investigation and collaboration, she is devoted to addressing the challenges that food system face and identifying innovative solutions for a more sustainable world. Food waste is a monumental challenge, both ethically and environmentally. Thus, she is actively investigating interventions to promote byproducts valorization and explore byproducts innovative uses in the food industry, ultimately contributing to circular and waste-reduced food system.

For that, she created Agrenatus, which will allow to establish connection between food industry players and promote the re-use and upcycling of food loss and waste. With Agrenatus we will find the right application/solution for food wastes, matching the right product for a valorization process, in a zero waste strategy.
